I am going to put a lot of content in this section because the biggest mistake I see people make when trying to lose weight is eating the wrong foods.
There are a lot of diet programs that tell you to eat certain foods and not to eat other foods with no explanation of why.
This information is very important because it could mean the difference between burning fat and getting amazing results or storing fat and not losing the weight that you want.
This can be tricky to figure out on your own because foods that may be considered “healthy” can actually keep you from being able to burn fat so it’s important to know which foods to eat and which ones to stay away from if you want to get the best results from your efforts.
Many people don’t realize that the fat on their body and the inability to lose weight stems from the constant triggering their #1 fat storing hormone- insulin. When this hormone gets triggered it is impossible to burn fat and lose weight.
So let me briefly describe insulin.
All the food you consume breaks down into glucose.
When the pancreas senses the glucose in your bloodstream it releases the hormone insulin.
Insulin’s job is to take the glucose out of the bloodstream and store it into your cells. Your body can only store so much glucose in the cells and the remainder is stored as fat.
Having too much glucose in your body at any given time is the #1 reason for fat storage because not only will insulin store glucose as fat but it also blocks your ability to burn fat.
Out of the two sources of fuel the body can use (fat and glucose) it will always choose glucose first and cannot burn fat if glucose is present.
This is a survival mechanism that has been built into our DNA to keep us from dying of starvation. The body burns sugar first and stores fat for the future.
Your body is saving fat and preparing for a proposed threat of starvation. This is obviously NOT what we want if our objective is weight loss.
So it makes sense that if we want to prevent fat storage and we also want to burn stored fat for energy then we need to eat food that does has the least effect upon our fat storing hormone insulin.
So what does triggers insulin? There are many things which influence insulin which we will discuss in other videos but the main one by far is certain food.
Sugar is the highest trigger of insulin and instinctively when we go on a diet we all know to avoid sugary items like candy, ice cream and soda. However most people are not aware of the fact that all carbohydrates break down into sugar and that a lot of the common health foods and diet foods are triggering insulin and secretly making them gain weight.
So the single most important thing to know if you want to lose weight and keep it off for good is what types of food cause you to store fat and what types of food burn fat.
In the next video I will walk you through which fat storing foods to avoid and then we will talk about the delicious fat burning foods to eat!
